I would also check with fuser -xuc /filesystem to check what is lock the FS
If you are feeling agreesive use fuser -xuck /filesystem to just kill them.
I don't think you can have more than two six packs in an F40
Have you considered other options such as a couple of SSA cards and external tower. Really cheap to pick up on the 2nd user market these days
Thanks for the feedback, we have reduced the server RAM to 4 GB but are still seeing the same problem from within Netware i.e. it only shows 3260, 029 Kilobytes of RAM installed.

We have a modern Compaq (HP) ML 530 G2 server with 5 GB off RAM installed. The server POST checks 5 GB and verifies the RAM is ok. However within Novell when the memory command is entered the server only claims to have 3260, 029 Kilobytes of RAM installed ?

We will soon be removing a system which used to host sensitive data and we need a method of ensuring the data cannot be recovered once we have deleted the filesystems.
The disks in question are a number of SSA 4.5 and 9.1 Gb disks
I have not seen this problem with AIX 5.2 but I have seen it with 5.1 The problem is that at least 2 versions of the AIX 5.1 CD exist - the way to tell them appart is by the part code or by the release date. If you use the early version then you get the diagnostic menu.

Not sure if any of the pSeries servers can actually tell you the abient temp, however I know the 7133-x40 disk enclosures do so if you have one of them attached to your server you can use the SSA utils to check the temp
