    nick, try to check printer setting using smit, it'll tell you and show you some default config that you may want to change. btw, is it a network printer?

    try this: 1. check if the two machines (AIX/Solaris)are on the same network, say - the default gateway. 2. check/try to use "ping" command (e.g.,ping{ip address}) 3. check your /etc/hosts table - define each server in each hosts file
