The media server is told what to do by the master server" Yeah that's correct. We have servers offshore and they need to be master servers rather than Media servers becasue if the comms are down the job wouldn't run.

Excellent, thanks very much for that. We did our first disk staging at the weekend around 1.8TB. It worked a treat, although a little slow copying it to tape, took almost 48 hours. But that's because it was using one tape drive. I found a solution which may be of benefit to others...

Thanks for clearning that up. So when the next weekend comes around it will automatically remove the old image to make room for the new backup then promote the tape to the primary. So basically I only need to do something when I manaually delete an image. Graeme
