    Windows Not Recognizng CD-ROM

I built my computer a couple years ago, and I've never had this problem before today. For some reason, Windows doesn't recognize either CD-ROM. They show up in the device manager with the "!" on them saying "it's successfully loaded the device driver, but cannot locate the device." I've tried...

Can't Play Games on My Computer!

Thanks, but did that too...everything in DirectX is working. Most of my games work with no problems. It seems like something happened to the system at some point in time, and since then I can't run a newly installed game.

Can't Play Games on My Computer!

I ran the program to no avail. I'm the only user on my machine, and have all administrator's privilages. Could this be virus that not's being detected? I'm using domestic software on a domestic machine. Any more ideas? I could reformat, but I REALLY don't want to do that yet.

Can't Play Games on My Computer!

I think this has something to do with the copy protection, but I've bought a couple new games recently and neither work. The installation works, and then the game tells me to insert the correct CD-ROM. Usually the disc is already in the drive, but it nothing works. I even tried the games on...

    HP Stuck on start-up screen!!!

I just moved my sister's HP Pavilion 9900 from her room to mine and now...it won't boot. It's stuck on the HP boot screen. I really don't know what to do...it worked an hour ago just fine. But now, when I press the power button, the blue HP screen comes up and sticks. Anyone have any ideas...

    Problems Installing Premiere

I had Premiere 6.5 installed on my XP computer. After I did a system restore (using Norton Ghost) I tried to reinstall Premiere. It seems to install fine, but when I click the icon to start the program, I get a "Registration is invalid. Please reinstall Premiere." I never used to...

Lost my Network after System Restore

Just out of curiousity: I don't think I've SP1 on my Windows XP Pro at the moment. However, I've got another disc (for my other computer with a Windows XP Pro SP1). Can I take SP1 off that disc, and install it without downloading it?

Lost my Network after System Restore

I recently used Norton Ghost 2002 to restore my computer to what it was last October. Ghost worked great. It's nice to have a fresh start. However, I've lost my network to my Internet Gateway computer in the other room. It's running XP Home, I'm running XP Pro and no matter how many times...

    Backing up Windows Updates

I've looked...and have yet to find, where Windows puts it's critical updates packages on my computer. I'd like to reformat my machine (call it Spring cleaning) and not have to go through the hours of downloading all the Windows Updates. Anyone know how (of if) to back these babies up?

    Popping Sound

I just bought a nice Logitech 5.1 surround setup for my PC, but when I'm playing a DVD or listening to anything through the coax digital output, I get pops every few seconds. Is this due to my soundcard. I should clearify, I don't really have a "sound card." It's a C-Media device...

I'm looking to buy a Sony DVD Burner (the DRU-500 specifically). Does anyone know the difference between the DRU-500A and the DRU-500AX? Thanks
