Hello, My only aim is to link a wireless media player to a single PC. I have a little home network with up to 3 PC's connected (all windows 2000 workstations) through an ethernet switch. The main machine delivers ics over lan. The same machine sould interact with the media player. Do I need...

    LCD Flat Panel (MAG) situation

Hello, I already had that pbl with a Iiyama lcd panel. I had no solution to it. I had to reboot the computer so that the screen was getting the signal. A few months later, the monitor's psu died. Warranty applied so I got a new one. This one works perfectly. I don't know about your model, but...

Which is broke MOBO / CPU / Memory or power ?

Hi, I think it is likely to be the mobo. Before buying a new one, I would test the rams on another system too (or other rams on yours). But it is likely that among the 'different combinations of the memory sticks' you have tried each stick separately, and I would say there is little risk both...

nVidia 52.16 drivers generate Windows Explorer error ?

Hello, I am not sure about this 'conflict' and have no idea of what could be the reasons : I installed the latest whql certified nvidia forceware drivers (52.16) on two systems running windows 2000 pro sp4 and 2000 server sp4. The drivers successfully installed, and I had no display trouble...

Need help in finding the slowest component

Oops, I am sorry... seems my information was not strong enough. I was sure it has an negative impact on performance (it is reported to have one in my mobo's manual). Sorry for having b*llsh*tted people, I only wanted to help. So please forget about this. I'll will investigate a bit more before...

    RRAS and Wan miniport

Hello again, The error message was 'Server not found or DNS error' in explorer. Pinging internet addresses produced 'Request timed out'. I have specified the default gateway and dns server on the client side and now it works :-) But surfing is very slow from the test workstation and sometimes...

Need help in finding the slowest component

Hi, Is SMART enabled on this disk ? (SMART stands for something like 'Self Management And Repair Technology'). I am no hd expert so I don't know if your disk could or could not enforce smart given its model, but one way to check it is to go in the bios setup menu at boot, and then browse the...

    RRAS and Wan miniport

Hello, Thank you for your reply, The workstations are configured by dhcp, so their ip settinbgs is set to 'get automatically ip address...' and 'obtain dns server address automatically'. Having read your post, I have searched on www.labmice.net which is full of useful links, and saw I had to...

    RRAS and Wan miniport

Hello, I have posted a few time ago about this problem, but my understanding of what happens has progressed, or at least I hope so ;-) I try to setup nat to share a usb dsl modem connection over a dhcp adressed lan served by a windows 2000 pdc. There is a wizard in the rras mmc that allows...

Need help in finding the slowest component

Hello, Paparazi is right(as usual) about the support limit of your mobo (2.4 ghz). As promised, some links on oc... FAQ : http://www.hyperformance-pc.com/overclocking_faq.htm Beginner's guide : http://www.viperlair.com/articles/howto/cpu/unlock/ OC will not work with every cpu ...

Need help in finding the slowest component

... by the way, your mobo most likely supports more than a 2400+, but your current bios version does not. Flashing a bios update from asus' website would allow you to run higher cpu's. Bios flashing is a common thing. The risk is only limited to a power shutdown during the 10 seconds it lasts.

Need help in finding the slowest component

Hi, I would say : buy BOTH cpu and hdd. You can find affordable 7200 hdd's around 55-60 EUR (60 gb, 2mb cache which is not good as 8 but 100 times better than a 5400 rpm). About the cpu, I would buy a 1.8 ghz athlon xp (0.13 micron) at 65 EUR too. That's 125 € :-) I only buy online, this is...

Win2K RRAS demand dial and NAT to share internet

michael976 : if you had internet connection sharing enabled on your modem, then you should disable it first. If you do not understand, maybe it is becasue you had not activated ics before, so this does not apply to your problem :-) everybody : I found this... not far from here (feel stupid...
