Microsoft have a downloadable paper regarding the introduction of Group policies on a 2000 domain:

Hope that helps.
Russell.
Greetings.
It sounds like the software your laptop uses to link these buttons to the appropriate programs has been deleted/disabled/corrupted.
You will I imagine need to either reinstall the software it uses (if you can get it) or use the recovery CD.
Which Operating System are you using?
Assuming this is a workstation and not a windows 2000 server issue, this really is not the correct forum for that question; but I digress.
In the Start Menu folder "Startup", do you by chance have a link to Microsoft Office?
It would appear a drive, resource has been changed and it...
My apologies, I did not read your original post thoroughly enough.
If you attempt to send a message to a machine using the computer name instead of the user name, does this work?
As I recall, to send a message to everyone on the domain the format would be:
NET SEND <DOMAIN NAME> MESSAGE
So for the Domain "TFG" you would use:
NET SEND TFG THIS IS A TEST
Hope that helped.
Russell.
To answer rphip's question with my personal opinion I would have to say "yes".
While machines have perhaps made our lives quicker and easier in many respects, I would not necessarily say they have improved the quality of life that we have.
That said, it would appear to be...
I spend a lot of time here, but obviously if there is work to be done then you do it.
I could never say that time spent here was wasted time, I've gained far more from Tek Tips than I have put in.
That does sound rather strange. Is it possible to delete the Distribution List, re-create it and then add the custom recipients again?
My line of thought is that perhaps it has become corrupt.
The distribution list is not a member of itself per chance is it?
Does there seem to be a set period of time inbetween the mail being sent again?
Has this been occuring for long, or only since a particular recipient was added?
