I can get a signal if I connect the Router thru the PC end, but I cannot do it the other way round. I use Freeserve as my ISP for DSL. I wonder if that is the problem.
I know this is not an urgent matter but it bugs me that I cannot hook the router up at the Mac end.
husband complains about all...
You did make sure you haven't used port 5 next to the cable port as these are joined and should not be used together.
just move the lead over one space and see if that helps
Post back please I like to know if my info was useful

Apple iMac 17"Flat panel...
It might be worth unplugging just one thing at a time to see if one item can be found to cause the fault.
also It just might be vibration making something shake loose.
Sorry if you have tried all these, maybe someone with better knowledge will be able to help. Occasionally tho it is the simple...
Good news. Whatever was the problem was fixed by uinplugging and replugging it all in again.
Thank goodness for that.
I had already checked the connections but not by actually taking everything off and putting it back.
so thanks for all the help

Does anyone know how I can re use a CD that was originally formated and written to by PC WinMe I think.
I no longer have the PC and I want to back up my Mac stuff on it.
I actually have several.
thanks
I have Toass 5.2 but it will not erase it as it says the drive is busy or another application...
yes I thought they would but they should make it more prominent. Belkin actually cover equipment due to spikes but I am not sure about the other factor. I will do as you suggest and take it back to the retailer with my innocent face on!
Kind thoughts and thanks for all your help.
Helpful post...
Good idea, and the power surge protection should warn about the brown stage anyway and cover for that.

So would a 'brown-out' happen even if the power was off for 2 1/2 hours The PC wasnt on but it was plugged in and the wall switch was on I didnt think to go turn it off after the power cut.
I was working on my mac at the time and that is fine.
I will have to borrow another monitor to test it...
We had a power cut and despite the surge protection I have the monitor Proview 17"TFT now gives a no signal message.
I am running WinXP Home.
If I press the power button on the monitor it goes green while it displays the message then returns to the amber standby light.
Anyone any ideas...
Thanks good people I did eventually remember that I had to pull the front of the case.
Then I found the 2 screws to remove [ should have been three] but one was missing.
I also remembered it wasnt the original ACER case anyway I had upgraded to a tower so it was a generic one.
Thanks again...
This may seem a silly question but I bought a new PC and want to put the firewire video card from the old one into it.
But I cannot find out how to take the panel off my Acer so I can remove it.
There arent any screws to remove that are obvious, the only ones I undid loosened the power panel so...
It might be worth going to OSX@OSXList.com as there are many knowledgeable people on there. I do appreciate everyones help on Tek_tips too but sometimes we need other help.
