Thanks guys, I'm really on the fence w/ this one. As biv mentioned, I've seen Nortels way of not sticking with a solution myself and that was a concern.
Anthony, I got this about rogue detection from Nortels site:
"Rogue Access Point Protection: In addition to identifying, classifying and...
Hi all,
I have a large K-12 campus that I manage using all Nortel wired gear. Central 8600 out to edge 8100's into closet 470/450 hybrid stacks. I have had good experience with the above in an environment of 10,000 students and 2500 administrators.
I have been asked to provide wireless...
Ok...It's up to 7 sec. on @ 100% and 3 sec off @ 0% for an avg.util of 86.3%...can this be good? Is this just the image being sent at max packet size and considered normal?
Hi,
We have a ghost server that I have been monitoring and I wonder if someone can help me understand if this is normal.
The avg.util is 49.3% w/ a max of 100%. If you watch the interface the traffic will peak at 100% for 5 sec. then go to 0% for 4 sec. which explains the avg.util of...
Hi,
What would cause a new 8600 to roll over to the backup cpu in the middle of a sunday night w/ no traffic load. Here's the log file a few lines before cpu #5 drops and boots to redundant cpu #6. Not sure what "Killing task 17de258 after timeout" means but the rest of the log file shows a...
Anyone run into this? After flashing a new 470, first with boss3601_diag.bin and then boss3514.img all boot tests pass then:

Hi,
Could someone tell me...Can Active Directory, through a policy, be used on a LAN to re-configure firewall settings and local services on the PC's logged into the AD. For example, could SNMP strings be updated in the SNMP service and a hole made for port 161 in the local firewall through a...
Hi,
I have a few 8100's running ver. 3.2.4.0 on the 8190SM CPU. We don't do any SMLT, SSL, QOS or much of anything fancy...just 802.1Q tagging multiple VLANS off our core 8600 across campus to these four 8100's then out to baystack 470/450 hybrid stacks in the closets. Nothing really to complain...
Thanks.
No other routers off of the inside private vlans...just the one outside static route connection to get to the internet with an ospf priority of "1".
So I should leave the internal stuff at 255 I think.
I have a single 8600 as a core router with a single static route to get all traffic out to the internet. All the other routes are dynamically created as each vlan is created for internal connectivity between vlans.
My question is under "VLAN/IP/OSPF" each vlan has the Designated Router...
Thanks.
To easy...I was looking for it under my hardware "8600 routing switch" then filtering for device manager versions available, instead of looking for dm as the product. I still hate their site...wow
Thanks again
Where do I get Device Manager 5.9.2.0 ??? I've upgraded my 8600 from 4.0.2.0 to 4.0.3.2 and not supported. Nortel tells you to use 5.9.2.0 but it doesn't exist on their website.
What's the trick.
Hi,
I tried the optivity forum but no reply....so,
I have OSM 4.1 and would like to re-install OSM on another PC but would like to know how I can find and move the files responsible for my "scheduled tasks". Is this possible or do I need to recreate all my scheduled back-ups.
I have all my...
