mlichstein yep was logged on as the admin recovery agent and loaded the snap in to check. Also attempted to run command line prompt recovery command. Found a tape and restored it restored with no encryption... Problem solved. Thanks for your interest .

Restored data via Veritas 8.6 onto Windows 2003 Server. When I went to remove the encyption attribute it removed it off the folder but I'm unable to access any file as they are encrypted (listed in green) and get "access denied" When I try and take ownership of them. Any takers?

Have you re installed IIS ? Control panel - add/ remove programs --> Windows components Remove it then re install... Re load Sp4 if at Windows 2000 What OS and Exhange build do you have?

Odd one this. Have been upgrading a system and copied all the data from an NT4 system to Windows 2003 Std on a Dell 1600SC. All files are set in the data partition to "Read Only" by a grey tick. When you uncheck it and apply changes to all sub folders it just re ticks the Read only...
