Good question. This is the first time using Outlook Express. This machine is running XP Pro. It was fully patched before trying to use Outlook Express. Very strange problem.

I can't edit the text for a new e-mail message. The editor area isn't active. Can't click on it or tab to it after putting in the To: and Subject: The same thing happens when I try to respond to a message. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for replying. Yes this was a system state and then file restore. I just got off the phone with Microsoft. They had me reinstall Internet Explorer. All problems solved.
