Not sure what is causing the error, but to make sure you get successful backups you may want to schedule the services to shutdown and restart through the AT command or through a pre/post in the backup job.
In my eperience with DR, changing the NIC card should not be a problem as long as there is not any special drivers that need to be loaded. If the MAC address that was saved cannot be found, I believe it assigns the IP addresses stored in the order that Windows setup reports the NIC cards.
