So I rebooted the 5.5 server and everything came through. I have no idea what was happening, but its working again.
Any ideas on some service that may have crashed or gotten hung? What is it that controls the communication between the two exchange servers? Like I said, there was nothing...
I'm doing a 5.5 to 2000 upgrade and have both servers running in the same domain/organization (small environment here). They were running fine, and for testing I moved only my mailbox to the new server for a few days (using the AD move mailbox method). So, yesterday I moved almost all the rest...
Didn't find anything related to the error on M$ site, but I'll continue to dig - I'm more concerned that theres something wrong with AD than people having to use a simple workaround to add printers.
Not a routing issue - printers work fine, we're all on the same network in a small office. Its...
I added them using the built-in drivers (they're HP 4050's and 4000's), connecting to an HP standard TCP/IP port. Then I shared them and checked "List in the Directory". No migration - added them as if they were new.
OK so I just tried to reproduce the errors by adding another printer, and...
I moved our networked printers from an NT server to a 2000 server and listed them in AD. When XP users try and add the printers by looking for them in AD, two problems occur:
1. When Entire Directory is selected in the Find Printers window, it doesn't find any printers. I have to change...
Our accouting uses an old Laserjet 4 printer with special ink for checks (otherwise we'd trash it).
Due to machine upgrades, I had to make use of its Jetdirect card and put it on the network.
Now, a few minutes after turning it on, its starts printing like crazy. I've done a cold reset...
Indeed there is! Thanks for the info. Also found this KB article with the same info

thanks!
Thanks for the hints. Restarting the Information store didn't work. In regards to what you're saying, zbnet, I'm trying to create a new, top-level public folder. The public folder container doesn't have properties that I can modify. I'm already a Service Account Admin for its parent, the...
Any resolution to this? I've added myself as Service Admin on all levels, but still don't have permission to add a public folder. Small single-org, single server site.
Getting the same messages as this last post.
The isakmp encryption is for key-exchange only, whereas the transform set is the encryption algorithm for data transfer. Thanks for your thoughts though....I haven't messed around with it since reducing the encryption somewhat to get rid of the errors.
I work for an ASP providing a java application that has load balancing built into the application. We're starting to outgrow the model and I'm wondering if a Cisco CSS is a possible solution, considering the caveats below. I use one for a web site, but don't know if its capabilities fit my...
Actually there was plenty of room on the tape
The media turned out to be bad, which wasn't immediately obvious until I looked at the device view rather than the media view.
Thanks to both for your suggestions.
I'm running BE9.1 and having a problem with it requesting overwriteable media.
The job is set to append to media, overwrite if none available. The media is set to allow append Infinite, and its overwrite protection period hasn't expired yet.
Why is it trying to overwrite when its set to Append...
