Hey Wooluf,
I think you have covered what I wanted to know, I was wondering if applications that were installed on 2000 initially could be run by XP without having to re-install the programs again.
What threw me was the fact that office applications were looking for the installer (like it does...
Just wondering if it is possible to create the same profile on XP as is on 2000 on the same machine (by registry tweaking or other method).
A user wants to access the same programs on his dual-boot machine but cannot run them due to profile incompatiability.
Is this achievable?
Thanks.
Guys,
Did a bit of experimenting last night.
I ran an inventory on 2 new tapes - did a quick erase on the 2nd tape and let it run as normal. This seems to have done the trick. im hoping i wont have to do this every day from now on, just until i get through all the tapes once.
After doing a bit...
Has anyone encountered the error message
"The media provided to continue the backup already contains data from one or more sets created during this operation.
The operation cannot be continued"
This is using backup exec 8.6 and a HP surestore autoloader 1/8. I use 2 tapes a night for...
Just as a follow up, wanted to inform that I got this to work, the problem lay with the anti-virus software not allowing me to extract the mails to the .pst file. To do this you must change a registry entry for background scanning of attachments, stop the anti-virus client and stop the NAV...
All,
A user in our organisation was using IMAP to read e-mails from an exchange server. The user was using outlook express 5. Somehow (!) they seem to have deleted the folders on the server but still have copies of the folders in their local store which aren't visible (yes, i've read the...
1) We used diskedit from Norton Utilities.
2) The procedure (as i can best describe as It wasnt me that did it) was to manually create a new record in the partition table which pointed to the start of the supposed d: drive.
This created a new logical drive (d:) so we could access the data.
Its...
Hi again,
When I put the win2k cd in it booted into setup mode but didnt ask me about partitioning at all, honest!!!!
It just writes files locally and continues to format the hard drive, no questions asked, then begins copying files to the new partition for setup.
There were no warnings about...
Hi,
I upgraded a laptop from Windows ME (don't ask!) to win 2000. The machine had 3 partions (C,D & E) but when I booted using the Windows 2000 cd (hardware specific shipped cd) it seems to have deleted all partitions and created one big c: drive.
Is this normal? Of course its only gone and...
Hey there,
Our NAV 7.0 server is locking up after receiving 10 error messages. It is getting messages from our mail server that it has recieved a virus (badtrans).
Its okay now but tonight the server (which is also our pdc) will freeze up until some sucker hits the ok button tomorrow. Anyone...

hey all,
We are currently moving from exchange to pop3 mail but are having difficulty extracting the data from exchange. Using traditional tools like exmerge dont work, they cannot handle attachments being 'exmerged' to a .pst file.
After giving up on those methods we have turned to trying to...
Hey chris,
exmerge didnt work, service account or not :O(
the strange thing about it is that i have now run exmerge 6 times on my mailbox and it is not down to 45 errors (at the start it had 830). so i figure, get it down to 0 and then compare it to what i have on exchange still.
what a huge...
I tried cleaning the tape drive but it doesnt seem to have done much. Its still hanging at 49G on the backup and wont go any further without a new tape. Do DLT tapes need to be formatted before being put into use? If so where can you do this? Are there any settings on Backup Exec that I might...
