We just virtualized an Arcserve Backup server running Arcserve 11.5 and windows 2000 that has a tape drive attached. The backup job is working, however it is taking much longer than when it was a physical box. What used to backup at 1500 mb/min is now crawling at 120 mb/min. It does not...
Thanks for the replies. I was able to see my tape and restore from it. davidmichel was correct, I had to eject a tape in the library to free up a slot.
Running BAB r11.5 sp3 and we have a Dell™ PowerVault™ 124T LTO-2 hooked up. We have all 16 slots full that we are running a backup rotation on. I have an additional tape in the drive that I want to restore from. I can see that the tape is in the drive (not a magazine slot) through the...
Thanks for your input!
We are running Win2003 Ent. Ed. on a 6850 that has 2 powervault MDs attached(SAS, 146gb).
To answer the rest of the questions posed:
From what I've heard so far, I do not have time to do benchmark testing.
The current server is not having issues, they were actually...
Any experience with having different versions of Oracle installed on the same machine? Our current version is 9.2.03, and we want to install either 10g or 11g. We are trying to decide if installing on the same box is the way to go, or purchase a new box for the second installation. This is a...
Thanks for the explanation! This is my first time working with a tape library. I remember selecting that option, guess I didn't realize what that really meant. Little by little I'm figuring out and understanding more about it.
Thanks again.
OK, so I figured it out. I thought that since the tapes were showing as <Marked Blank Media> that it meant the tapes were seen as blank (you know since they are brand new). I decided to do an erase on all the tapes in the library and they started showing up as <Blank Media>. My job now runs.
We are using BAB r11.5 sp3 build 4402. We have a brand new tape library - Dell 124T. We have 16 slots. 1-15 are LTO2 tapes and slot 16 is the cleaning tape. I have setup a backup job that runs off a rotation schedule - 5-day weekly full backup with GFS enabled. The job created 3 media...
So, I've been asked the following question:
"Do we have the ability to process mainframe created tapes, or do all tapes have to be converted to "Server" format for us to be able to read them?
Are we capable of processing EBCIDIC data, or would data need to be translated to ASCII for us to be...
When you open Brightstor, on the Job status page you will have your Job queue that lists the jobs that you have scheduled to run. select your job and scroll over until you find the column that lists the owners of your jobs. They might not necessarily be all the same.
Double check the owner of your job in the Brightstor Manager Job Queue. We had problems restoring remotely and for whatever reason the job owner was not the admin ID we expected it to be, but it was a local user that didn't have the rights.
I believe by the source priority you specify. You can change this when you submit the job. After clicking Start, the second screen is the Submit Job screen. On the right you should see a button for the source priority.
I'm thinking this may be an issue with the server I'm trying to restore to. I think the error message is misleading since it refers to the path the file is on the tape. I was able to restore the files to another server. We checked permissions on the drives and made sure we weren't restoring...
