Realtek HD Audio: Driver will not load :)

I had this problem with a new motherboard. I believe it is caused by a driver incompatibility between certain versions of HD audio drivers and Windows Universal Audio Architecture. The solution for me was to disable HD audio in the BIOS. Then delete Windows Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) in...

    Analog, Check Signal Cable error

My guess is that you are plugging the DVI-D cable that came with the monitor into the graphics card, then into the adapter which is plugged into the monitor VGA connector. It won't work because the DVI-D cable doesn't have VGA capability. There are several possible solutions: Replace the DVI-D...

Specifications for Dell Dimension 2400 Hard Drive

You'll want to buy a 3-1/2 inch internal IDE drive (also known as EIDE or PATA). I think the 2400 is about three years old so you should not have a BIOS drive capacity limitation, so buy something 100GB or larger (depending on what you plan to use the PC for and cost). Dell uses standard hard...

    Ethernet Cable ???

It is commonly used in aircraft avionics wiring when the requirements specification drawing calls for 100 Mbps. Weight is a big deal in an aircraft environment, so 4 wires weighs 1/2 as much as 8 wires. I/O pins are also a precious commodity.

    Ethernet Cable ???

. Correct. So a 10/100/1000 device that is capable of auto-negotiating the connection should work with four wires at 100 Mbps. Anyway, problem solved, the unit under test ethernet port was bad. The replacement unit works properly.

    Ethernet Cable ???

I have a test setup at work that has a PC with 10/100/1000 ethernet connected to a Gigabit switch, and a unit under test (UUT) with 10/100/1000 ethernet connected to the same switch. The PC and UUT are both supposed to auto-negotiate speed. If the cable between the UUT and switch has eight...

Can you recommend a good app for...?

Spacemonger is a good utility: http://www.sixty-five.cc/sm/ It displays a graphical interface that shows the folders and files that are hogging hard drive space. The old version (good enough) http://www.sixty-five.cc/sm/v1x.php is still freeware.

Where's my Flash drive? Not on My Computer ...

Microsoft has a KB article on the subject, but the wording doesn't accurately describe the problem. It says "You attach a USB-based device to a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP. Then, you try to scan for hardware devices. However, the computer may not detect the attached device, and...

Where's my Flash drive? Not on My Computer ...

USB thumb drives working on some PCs but failing to show up on other PCs is an undocumented Windows "feature". For a workaround that usually works, you can open Internet Explorer and type the drive letter F: (or whatever) in the address bar then his enter.
