Printere is found and installed normally using original disk that came with printer. After install get message that cannot change parameters on printer because access is not authorized.
Have tried cold start, download from Borhter site, etc.

Here is a tip from a guy who has been servicing electronics for 45 years. When you build a computer test it after each phase of installation. Do not totally assemble it and then turn it on. When I teach computer building I have the students assemble the computer on the bench, out of the case...
I would try to boot from a boot disk, or an XP disk. IF not unplug everything from the board except the video card. If it is onboard video try another card. May resetting the bios would help.
I have had two instances lately of XP failing after a microphone was installed. The micorphone worked fine but XP hung which is really rare and the XP splash screen even changed. Removing the microphone made the problem go away.
Any clues.
Installed thunderbird. worked fine.. .power cycle computer it would not send, reinstalled thunderbird ...worked fine until power cycle and again it would not send. It recieved ok.

a win 98 computer with a built in dlt tape drive using tapeware...computer crashed.....got new xp machine....got new quantum usb drive.....tape ware will not see old data on tapes but will write over tapes and restore from tapes that were written over. I need the data from the old tapes.

I had to wipe and reinstall Windows XP on this 4600. Now I cannot get the onboard ethernet to work. I tried the drivers from their web page but have had no luck.
