Thanks for the reply I have just done what you posted but things are still the same. I have loaded the Opera browser on to my system as a tempory work round and that is O.K. I can't use this permanently as my banking system won't work with Opera. Phil

Fdisk then Format should do it. My understanding of low level format is that it sets out drive parameters, so if you do this make sure its done by a program from your drive manufacturer.

Installing Win 98 does NOT repartition drives. This has to be done with fdisk or third party software specificaly designed for the job.
