Did you start that book from page 1 or from page sevenhundret and something?
I started the book from the START, and (it seemed, to me) to
be understandable from the START, and onward, since my first program (literally "from the book", to create and display ONE window) worked fine. Obviously...
(1) I am NEWBY to java. The following code works FINE, and
creates a "window" on the desktop, but
my attempt to make TWO windows, with a second program, by adding a section (a second "instantion"?) to this same
code (I thought) did NOT succeed: see the second sample of
code below this one...
(1) I still DON'T know how to get "xterm" to start a window in a particular (existing) WORSKPACE, and, simultaneously, start some application in that same window..
Hopefully with a single command-line, in a script. And does it require an ".rc" file, also, as well as some command line...
From: ernieah, error-correction:
I realize, now, that instead of "xinit",
I should have used "xterm" in all
parts my question, above.
Thanks again to any prospective responder
who knows about X Windows.
(1) What xinit command do I use,
(as command-line parameters)
on the same "line" as "xinit", in a
script, to start an x-term window in
a PARTICULAR workspace (for example
in workspace #6) - along with the
"application"\s that I want to run in
that window in that workspace?
Where, I presume, the...
(1) I had it in mind to run these OBSOLETE programs only on OBSOLETE computers (for users who are still USING obsolete
computers, ahd who want, or need, to have FoxPro.)
(2) Also, it's nice (I think) to have ON MY PERSONAL machines
exactly the same version\s of FoxPro (or other applications)...
(1) Is there a place where one can buy obsolete FoxPro versions - that is "brand new" factory sealed packages,
which have never yet been owned, and are still in the original "factory wrap"? For Wintell platforms..
(2) This would be over-stoccked items (leftovers), for
very inexpensive sales...
(1) Unix: I am entering commands in a "unknown shell", in a mission critical application where I DARE NOT disturb the shell or the program. As far as I'm concerned "editing" a previous "command line" for this application is a "black box" problem. I am anxious about using stty or tset, etc...
(1) Thanx very much to: "fumei" and to "PeterMoran" for your
insightful and useful suggestions. I'm flattered to get responses from computer (and Tek-tips) "celebrities" such as
you two guys. Also, thanx to "ibby" at the ...word.mvps... site (the URL suggested by "PeterMoram".)
(2) As soon as I...
Thanx, PeterMoran. I checked the MS-reference you gave me.
Apparently, MS and I do not agree about what a "local backup copy" of a network-saved\edited should be. I think
of a "local copy" as LOCAL, and I would expect it to be on "drive C:", rather than on the network drive. I also think of a...
Sorry about the "oddness" of my post. I appreciate your
persisitence and willingness to respond anyway. I suppose a lot of the questions people ask on this forum appear to be somewhat odd to others who already know the answer. I'm embarrassed when I ask "stupid questions", but often, I'm told...
Sometimes Word (and other) word processing programs will
get a file which is for printing in "pcl code" (Hewlett Packard, I think). Such files have a HUGE amount of "coding" to achieve print commands to the printer (in
"pcl"-code).When such a file is viewed with an ACSCII-coded editor (such as...
The book, "Using Microsoft Office Word 2003" "Spcial Edition",
by Que, Author Bill Camarda, Page-93, says (blank line
separation, "quote marks", and "numbering" is added by me):
"Saving Local Backups"
(1) "If you typcially save to a network drive
or a removable disk such as a Zip disk, you...
(1)Word-2003: When I attempt to "set" the locations for ("automatic, full) backup files onto a LOCAL drive (NOT the network drive where the main document is), I see NO way to identify a (local, drive-C:) directory for "backup files".
Some paths are listed in the "File Locations" tab, including...
(1) Thanks, KenCunningham, for the reminder that I might be transposing, or mispelling. I will do a re-check on that, and get back to you.
(2) I DID notice, that when I attempted to enter the full path of my "afm" files (one of the line-entries in my enscript.cfg file, see above in (2), where...
