I was able to find my problem. Basically I have a Lexmark Multifunction printer at the remote XP computer. I found a Microsoft Knowledgebase Article stating that Lexmark multifunction printers have issues redirecting. Thanks for the replies.

Trying to print to local pc. Basically, I am vpning in order to remote desktop into a windows xp pc which is within an office network. So when I print in the remote desktop session, I would like to be able to have the print jobs print out to the local pc's printer.

Be sure you have the printer/fax drivers somewhere before doing anything Delete any printers that you have installed. Delete and fax machines that you have installed. Then try opening word up again.
