What type of group policy do i configure and where is it?

there is no group policy of any kind. Also, i've set sessions in both active directory and terminal server configuration to never end active/idle session. This is occurring in two different networks (one at a datacenter)...so i don't believe it's a connectivity issue.

There is no power option on the W2k server. Also for some reason, setting the session to never disconnect did not fix the issue...maybe its designed this way.

If i am idle for more than 10 - 15 minutes on the terminal server(W2K server) I get automatically disconnected. We are using both w2k and xp pro workstations. the error is "the connection to the remote computer was broken. This may have been caused by a network error." Any suggestion...

When that happens rebooting the server and the backup device fixes the problem for me.

Instead of trying to change the domain name using the change button in system properties, try using the network id wizard button. Sometimes that works. If it still doesnt, change the computer name, then reboot and you should be able to change the domain name.

thanks for your help. i'll try to take the firewall out of the picture when this happens...which can be difficult because the connection will be back up by the time i get there. I was also thinking maybe its some dos attack or some dns or broadcasting issue which i dont know how to troubleshoot.

Is there a way to create installation disks for a client without using floppy disks? Our client is on a remote site and it would be a hassle to mail it to them. We would prefer emailing it to them.

the display on my laptop suddenly turned dark. I can barely see the information on it. Does anyone know what components make up the lcd display? I'm trying to determine if its a video card issue or some other defective components that's at fault.
