I just picked up a PERC 4 RAID controller for my Dell PowerEdge 2600, and another 36 gig drive to match the one already in my server. I'm currently running windows 2000 SBS, and I have it all nice and set up how I like it. Am I going to have to reload my OS to add the controller and mirror...
I recently updated my win2k server to win2k3. Since upgrading I have had numerous terminal services problems. All of my users lock up frequently in TS. They don't always get errors, but when they do they recieve data encryption errors, as well as protocol errors. I really can't find anything...
We use DOS software over terminal services all the time. How does her software work? Does it send data to an LPT port? If so then you need to manually map the printer that is redirected for her in TS to the LPT port. Or you need to get a third-party program that will convert her DOS print...
No. It just started last week actually. Or rather, that's when my clients first started complaining. I lowered the encryption level on the server this morning. Not sure if that will do anything though.
I get this same error, and my server is behind a cisco pix 501. I'm not sure what to do since this same firewall was in place before we upgraded the server to 2003 from 2000.
Right, but since I have a top folder shared and I don't want a particular user to be able to get into anybodies folder but their own, I give them read access to the share, and full access to their own folder under the share. Since they only have read access to the share, then they only get read...
I am having similar trouble with this. It has to do with the share permissions as opposed to the folder permissions. If you give the users read only access to the top share then that is the only permission they will ever have to the share. I don't think you can give a person read access to...
Hate to bump up my own thread, but I really need help here. I found an article on MS's website saying I need to have NAT enabled and forward some ports, but I'm not exactly sure how to accomplish this. Thanks.
Ok. I'm trying to connect to a hospital through their VPN software and my firewall won't let me through to their system. I'm pretty new to routers and firewalls. I have spoken to their guys and they say that I have to have IPSec enabled. I told them that, of course, this is no problem...
I have users that log into our server from the internet. Every so often when they log in, after they enter their passwords, Terminal Services just throws up a black screen and they can't do anything, and I have to reset their connections. Any idea why this happens? Thanks.
As long as they are running the same protocols there shouldn't be any problems. How does he have them cabled? Does he have DSL? If so, does he run it through an internet sharing router? Those can run DHCP and pass out IP addresses. If not, you'll have to give them their own address. Share...
I can ping win2k workstations fine from any station. Just can't browse to them. The shares on the win2k machine can be seen fine from other win2k pc's so I believe that the shares and accesses are fine. There's just something screwy in the stack I'm thinking, but I can't quite get it.
