    winword.exe has error and closes word

    Do you have Norton Anti-virus installed as I have had this problem and it was caused by the Office Add-in within the Options of Norton under the miscellaneous tab, when I deselected it the proble no longer existed.

    You can alter the boot.ini file and reset the countdown time. The boot.ini file may be read-only so remove this attribute first and reset after you've made the changes.
