Let us know if you find out how much their service costs and what hw/sw it uses. It would be interesting to see if one can just buy the hardware and maintain it themselves.

there is a proxy or a router that is redirecting traffic based on if the user has paid or not.
How does someone with a WAP do that, which is the question originally posted? The WAP is connected to the modem which is connected to the ISP and the clients are connected to the WAP and masked by...
Short of the server testing for an address change and sending a Windows Popup Message there's not much you can do. The client has control of the browser and which sites he/she connects to so unless they choose to visit the WAP's website there's not much you can do short of putting up signs...
Does the WiFi client have a wire based NIC in it in addition to the WiFi NIC? If so use WINIPCFG or IPCONFIG to /RELEASE the IP connection from the wire based NIC the /RELEASE & /RENEW the IP connection from the WiFi NIC.
All,
After reading http://www4.tomshardware.com/network/20030716/ the solution to my problems was simple.
I disabled DHCP in the Belkin router (I had previously disabled the firewall), moved the cable connecting the two routers from the Belkin's WAN port to a LAN port and refreshed all the...

Interesting link. Thanks.
With all my configs and reconfigs with the pcs and the different routers, I have never had to change the Windows TCP/IP settings. When DHCP is working they come up fine. When the Belkin router was using firmware version...

2) Select "Use as access point only" option. Select enable and leave the defaults in place.
The router will now reboot and you...

Start>My Network Places>View Network Connections>RIGHT click on a Local Area Connection>Bridge
Well I got my router replaced. It took 10 days. The new one came with version 2.00 of the firmware.
Unfortunately the WAP option is worst with this one. Not only can I not log into it, using any address, after invoking the mode, I can no longer connect to the web or release/renew the IP...
NB If you click on the ethereal link and it doesn't work see if there are 2 %A0 strings at the end of the URL. If so delete them both and the link should work fine.
Where the extra characters came from I don't know but I do apologize for them breaking the link. The proper URL should be simply...
BTW "Wincap 3.0" is "WinPcap 3.0" and can be downloaded together with Ethereal from here:

Don't know about the 6230 model but the 6231 model has a AP mode setting which automatically turns off DHCP, firewall and NAT.
I know the address of the router, I can see it via my other router, but I can't access it via that IP address.
The results of the ROUTE PRINT command should be the...
