XP Pro machine, SP1, when logging on to a 2000 server, it takes like three or four minutes from password screen to shell. The "Applying personal settings" screen takes the longest, then everything seems to be ok. Any Ideas?
Sounds like you have a logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo. Check out their website under support- search for synchronizing mouse and keyboard. Just ran into this yesterday.
If you're using windows 98, configure 2 hardware profiles-
1 with the dialup adapter installed, 1 without.
Also, why not just tell it to never dial a connection, then make a shortcut to a dialup networking entry on the desktop. If you really need to dial, use the shortcut.

How are they connected? If you're not using a hub or switch, you have to use a crossover cable.
What protocol(s) are you using?
Make sure that file and printer sharing is enabled.
Make sure primary logon is microsoft windows network and that the workgroup names are the same on both machines...
Actually, I'm only trying to ping the internal NIC on the winproxy machine. If I can't establish a TCP/IP connection to this NIC, I can't connect to the machine.
