Closing WinXP unsuccesfull
One of the references in this thread indicated the "telephony" service might be the source of a slow shutdown problem. That proved to be the case for me. I disabled it. The penalty I pay is that I can no longer use Windows fax service. Fortunately this did not interrupt my cable...- edg99
