Thanks for your combined help, people, I had the same problem on a notebook (W2K Pro, SP3 - whereas it seems that for the rest of you it's been on servers). Same error msg as hsokc & others describe, then blue screen only. After finding these tips, C-A-D then Task Mgr then run Explorer, then...

NAV Corp Ed. 7.6 - scheduled scan exclusion question

As I understand it (& how it works for us), "Multiple computers are selected. Item selection is not available. Norton AntiVirus will scan all files and folders" refers only to the excluding of specific files &/or folders, which understandably can't be propagated across multiple...

    W2K Default "Application Data" Path

Finally found the answer myself - hiding in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders Common AppData = C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data Change the above value from "Default User" to "All Users&quot...

    W2K Default "Application Data" Path

Hi there We have recently begun migrating our PC's from W98 to W2K Professional (initially SP2, now adding SP3). We do a fresh build on each different model of PC, then use Symantec Ghost for cloning. On some builds, the *shared* "Application Data" folders are placed under "All...

    Additional Print Drivers

Alright! :-) I've found the answer for myself - with thanks to jmiller47 on http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/Win2000/Q_20303053.html (as usual, discovered using Google) Go to the "Printers" folder, drop-down menu: File > Server Properties > Drivers tab. From here you...

maximum users 2k server limit seems to be 10

Hi there, Could this be related to, "In a Windows 2000 domain, the maximum number of machine accounts that any authenticated user can join to a domain is 10." This is a default configuration, which can be changed. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;314462...

    Additional Print Drivers

Hello, This thread is over a year old, but appears still unanswered - now I have the same question. On our Windows 2000 print server, the Windows 98 printer driver for one of the printers is faulty, so I need to replace/upgrade this driver only. As jguillory pointed out, the facility is there...

Cannot copy/play .dat file (video file)

Sorry, it's not pinned down yet - to clarify: I can use WMP to play these files on other PCs, but not on the problem PCs.

Cannot copy/play .dat file (video file)

DMA for the CD drives is enabled (in Device Manager). The PCs were loaded fresh with W98, not upgraded. You're right, Media Player can play these DAT files, but because it doesn't recognise them as media files, you have to manually browse to the file + select to view "All files&quot...

Cannot copy/play .dat file (video file)

Hi CDogg Good q. A: The CDs are CD-R (copied for distribution to customers). My PC (the DeskPro) has both a CD-Player & an internal CD-Writer, the 6287s have CD-Players, one has an external CD-Writer - the results are the same whichever drive we use. Regards, Alistair

Cannot copy/play .dat file (video file)

Hello there Did anyone actually find a solution to this problem? I have what appears to be the same problem, on at least 2 different models of PC (IBM 6287 & Compaq DeskPro P3-667) with Windows 98. The files in question are MPEG video (marketing advertisements or product demonstrations)...
