Hi all,
We recently upgraded our Exchange servers from SMSME 4.5.4 to 4.6.1. At the same time we also uninstalled SAV client 8 and installed SAV client 9.
The problem we are having is that on the main Active mail server with the stores (7 stores at 350 gigs in total) slows down Outlook...
Me too. The problem is that the product does not update.
What we have done here is use Altiris to push out the NoNav.bat tool to workstations, set a restart, then deploy 9 via the NT Deployment tool in the SSC. That works.
To get rid of the NAV or SAV registry entries contact Symantec technical support and ask for the NoNav tool. It's a batch file that runs and removes all SAV/NAV entries from the registry. It works extremely well, you'll just require a restart after running and prior to re-installing.

Anytime. I'm glad your exclusions went well. Have you also excluded the Mail Security Temp folder? That is also one that should be excluded.
Good luck!! Our error went down as well somewhat (at least no mail interruptions) but until we upgrade and configure the rest appropriately we may still...
Hi Distressed, we are currently having the exact same issues here. I have contacted Symantec technical support and have been told to make sure of the following:
1) That all exclusions are properly set in the NAV client on the Exchange server(s)
2) That the VSAPI threads are the sufficient...
I agree with you Steve, regardless of firewalls and ad-awre products, we can never eliminate the trojans/malware from happening. The fact is that people will surf the internet, and they will still be hijacked regardless of firewalls, etc.
We have decided to incorporate Stiddy's idea into our deployment plan.
We will be using Altiris to uninstall version 8, reboot and reinstall version 9 through the same package.
Here's to me not staying here 24 hour weekends!!
Stiddy, again much appreciated. If you want to share your batch files, that would be amazing. I noticed there is no Private Message function on the forums.
Unless I am missing something...... :)
Why Stiddy I think that may just work!! I'll have to test the 8 to 9 on a couple test computers but yeah, sounds great. I may also consider using Altiris to push the clients out.
You rock babe!!
We run Symantec here and it doesn't do well at all with spyware/malware.
We use a combination of approaches:
1) Tightening IE security
2) Windows patching
3) Websense (blocks known spyware sites)
4) Symantec Client Firewall (not yet implemented)
To date, none of the above have been good at...
We have 800 clients currently connected to our SAV server. This server is running version 8.1.0.825.
We have a freshly built server upon which I am going to install SAV Enterprise 9.
I have an idea about how to approach this installation but I could really use some feedback. What I am...
About Buster didn't do it. I ran MSCONFIG and turned off most of everything. Then ran Ad-aware and Hijack This again. That seemed to have done it. But then again, I thought it was fixed yesterday only to find out it has come back.
Diogenes10, thanks so much for the excellent information you...
This has got ot be one of the most persistent malware hijacks I have seen. Not only does it take 2 hours to get this gone (and 90 percent of the time nothing works) that time is tech time as well as lost user time. Not good.
I have used all these programs to get rid of this:
