How to disable Word's auto formatting?

Hi, I'm trying to create a resume with some simple formatting including shaded headings, two column headings, and some bullet points. Nothing fancy at all. The problem is Word 2000 is automatically adding things such as page breaks after the two column headings and changing bullet point font...

Cable/DSL router allowing access to WAN

I tried the reset button, but the reset doesn't happen. Somehow, the software in the old router got corrupted and acts like it no longer exists. The router acts like a hub now. I ended up buying a new router, and all is fine. I guess everything breaks eventually.

Cable/DSL router allowing access to WAN

Hi, I have a 2-year-old Linksys cable/dsl router exhibiting odd behavior. I made no changes. I just woke up one morning and it started doing this: - when I run ipconfig, my PC shows an IP address assigned by my DSL provider, rather than the usual 192.168.x.x address I assigned it via the...

    PC Freezing - Power Supply?

I just swapped in an Enermax 460W PSU today, and the demo runs like a charm now. As a bonus, the Enermax runs a lot cooler, so the temperature in the case is cooler by a few degrees despite the fact that there are more cables. Thanks for all the feedback! Erm... I didn't know who to credit, so...

    PC Freezing - Power Supply?

Esteemed forum members: my desktop has been freezing during gaming recently: - It doesn't freeze when I'm using the web or Office - It rarely freezes while playing Halo or Kotor - It always freezes when playing the FEAR demo Seems like the heavier the load, the more frequent the problems...

How effective is BIOS monitor of CPU heat?

Thanks. The CPU is running 10 C cooler than it was yesterday... I'm supposing it's because the Artic Silver is settling in now.

How effective is BIOS monitor of CPU heat?

Hello, I've just replaced my motherboard, the first I've ever attempted. As a complete noob to this, I'm obviously worried about CPU heat. I applied some Arctic Silver between the heatsink and CPU, and now I'm running it idle watching the CPU heat from the BIOS. It's a P4 2.8 running at about...

    Help diagnosing computer freeze

Hello, a few days ago my PC began freezing randomly. I'd be doing something (gaming, surfing, opening folders) then the PC would stop responding slowly... e.g. I'll click on the start menu but the menu doesn't appear, if I leave it alone at this point it will keep running, but if I try to do...

Conditional chart in web report not displaying.

    Hi, I have a web report with 4 report headers that are suppressed with the following conditions: A: CStr({?Param}) = "myParam" B: CStr({?Param}) <> "myParam" C: CStr({?Param}) = "myParam" D: CStr({?Param}) <> "myParam" Sections A and B contain charts...

Formatting Windows 2000, NTFS, & FDisk questions

Thanks for the reply. When I tried booting from CD, the prompts were written as though it would only write on top of the existing installation. I also checked an MS article, I can hit F10 to get the Recovery Console at the Windows Setup Welcome screen, and format the partition from there. Cheers.

Formatting Windows 2000, NTFS, & FDisk questions

Hello, I have Windows 2000 on an NTFS partition with some issues, now I'd like to format and reinstall it. My problem is, I have the OS installed on c:, but I have d: and e: on the extended partition with data that I want to keep. I've always used the W98 boot disk to format before, but I now...

Big problem with RAS - reports not opening in browser.

For future reference, if anyone else has this problem, a simple restart of the web server got the reports running again. I don't know why that worked. Arranging for a restart of a remote server is not easy. I'm both thrilled and frustrated right now... strange feeling.

Big problem with RAS - reports not opening in browser.

Hi Turkbear, the database is up-to-date. Note that I developed the reports using Access and dynamically change the datasource to MS SQL on the web server. In any case, it's definitely not the database. I've gone and looked at every table. There's only 3 tables in most of the reports, not...

Big problem with RAS - reports not opening in browser.

Hi, I've checked the dates on the reports and scripts, and they were last modified in November. I've even restored backup copies, but no deal. I thought it was the database too, but other ASP pages that use the very same tables work fine. The only changes to the database is data input, and...

Big problem with RAS - reports not opening in browser.

Hello, I don't know what's going on. I had some reports being passed parameters via ASP running on RAS 9.0 just fine for a couple of months. Out of the blue yesterday, the reports no longer open. Instead, I get this error: This field name is not known. Error in File...
