While running the SQL Server 2005 Upgrade Advisor, I get the following error message:
"Notification Services instances could not be found on server XXXXX"
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks much!
You've probably already called Microsoft by now, but if not... it looks like this error is caused by a procedure call to a DLL. If the DLL does not contain the requested procedure, then you get this message. This could be caused becaused the DLL was replaced with an older version, usually by...
Thanks, PAndersen - you got me thinking on the right track. I discovered a rogue domain group policy login script that was mapping the drive. I didn't suspect group policy because I was not logging into the domain. However, this group policy was set at the computer level, not the user level...
Thanks for the suggestions.
net use * /delete
This does not work. Gives message: "There are no entries in the list"
Regarding login scripts, I myself am the network admin, and I can find no login scripts active. Note: I am logging on to the computer locally and not logging into the domain...
Problem: I have a network drive that is using the drive letter p:\. I need to use this drive letter for another assignment. The behaviour of the drive is puzzling.
I have an icon for (p:) with a red x in My Computer.
If I right-click / disconnect, I get "The network connection could not be...
Thanks, everyone, the problem is solved! Bcastner solved it for me. On this PC, the NIC device driver was giving stats in BYTES instead of packets like the rest of the PC's in the office. Therefore the numbers were really big, but the actual traffic is not out of line.
Thanks, bcastner, for the great info. Follow-up question: when Windows' "Local Area Connection Status" reports traffic in bits or bytes, does it label the numbers accurately, or does it still call them "packets" even though they're really bits or bytes?
You might try control-alt-delete and click on Task Manager. Look at the Performance tab and see if the CPU or memory are all used up. If CPU is near 100%, click on the Processes tab and then click on the CPU column and it will show you which processes are using the most CPU. You can then look...
In my office network of Win2K computers, one PC sends and receives 10 times more network traffic than its closest competitor. How can I find out what is causing this traffic? I have researched all the processes that are running and found nothing unusual. Norton Antivirus and Spybot both come up...
Yes, we did find an answer. The only problem is my memory is fuzzy about what we did. I think we ended up reinstalling Outlook. If you try this, make sure that your outlook.pst file is copied somewhere safe. I don't know if Outlook overwrites the .pst file on a reinstall, but I wouldn't take any...
Question for Grenage: you said you use the AVG Corporate Edition at work. Is it easier than NAV/Symantec Corporate to administer centrally? I have a copy of NAV Corp but find the learning curve to be very steep for central administration.
Win98, Outlook 2000.
Problem with calendar pop-up reminders. This has worked fine for a long time. Now, the reminders do not pop up when they should. They pop up when you start Outlook, but not while Outlook is running. Even reminders that were dismissed in a previous Outlook session still pop...
