Why does a DVD player for a TV read more scratched DVDs than a DVD drive for a computer? I have a DVD-burner and it lags or sometimes stalls while reading a disc with minor scratched. The same is not true when I play the same disc on the DVD player for the TV.

I reinstalled an emachine using the supplied resotore disks. When the computer is fisrt turned on it show the window logo and then it leads to the Loading up windows. Then the monitor goes off and the music starts. The music never stops but the picture never shows. Can't see anything. Any ideas...
