I was trying to connect from a v8 client to a v7 server,
the "attach" and " connect to db" is not working, plus some other commands. Is this normal or what? They are not compatible? ----------------------------------------

I don't know how you would think:
Actually the best and simplest way is to set another account and another mailbox for your pop3/imap use only.
For example, your Notes name is John@a.com, so you use it for notes mail or anything notes (with ID).
Then set John_home@a.com as the name for pop3...
you may want to ftp to C the db, which is faster for big db, and be sure to set the ACL before ftp it. ----------------------------------------

And I just find it is quite simple to use Domino server to share with officemates.
For example, I have something (like a Notes documents library) to share with officemates, the db is on local and is updated everay day, so I just set a replica on server and send people the link to the db, and...
Appreciate your points, guys.
I am now working on Domino/Notes Administration, and thinks it is funny:).
And I used 5.0.3 Domino server running on a Windows 2000 PC and find it is quite stable as a web server and smtp server and Notes backup server (it needs some memory though).

This is what I will do:
1)Build a group to include those names needed to access server
2)Set in server doc to include the group name as " Allow access".
I don't quite understand if you don't have user info(at lease names) on server, how could the server know the user for security...
There seems to be problem that when you put somebody who has a OU which has space inside like"** ****",for example " J R/New York/Com" , into a group, then Domino will not be able to recognize this name correctly while use the group to decide ACL access for a DB. For example...
