    Annoying baloons

    Try this: Right click Start button - Properties - Start Menu - Customize - Advanced - Uncheck 'Help and Support' (This will eliminate baloons from the Start Menu. The 'My Computer...' procedure mentioned before by coakerb will eliminate square pop-up descriptions)
