    Are our spam levels normal?

Thanks for the replies - looks like management want a separate spam filter service anyway. I'm sure it will reduce it further but I think they are looking for perfection. Luckily I am leaving this job anyway so won't have to explain why spam still gets through even after spending more money...

    Are our spam levels normal?

Thanks for the info sleipnir - but what I'm interested in is how much spam still gets through to users inboxes.

    Are our spam levels normal?

I would be interested in people's experiences of how effective their spam solutions are. We use GFI MailEssentials on our Exchange Server. It is blocking about 7000 mails per day but lets through about 30-40 spam mails company wide (40 users) with only about 300 genuine emails. So the worst...

Task List View in Public Folder

We have a company wide task list in the public folder area of Outlook. The problem is that we want it to be displayed the same for all users - i.e. viewed by categories then sorted by subject and date. Easy enough to do initially but also easy to mess up by the user who, in our company, are...

    Upgrading Published Applications

We are upgrading our various different versions of Office to 2003 Professional and I now need to upgrade the XP version on the Citrix server. Since it is already a published application, do I just do a standard installation as with any other machine or do I need to do something in Citrix e.g...

"Shell Hardware Detection" service causing slow startup

My boss has brought his home PC in to be fixed - it is taking an extremely long to boot and then to navigate through folder in Explorer. I cleaned it out of loads of viruses and spyware in safe mode but the problem remained. Then worked through the auto-starting services and found that if...

    Email relaying

We are having problems relaying external email to users home accounts. A NDR is generated: <(..our mail server..) #5.5.0 smtp;550 relaying blocked, read new mail, add (..our ip address..) to forwarding or enable smtp authentication in y> Direct mail to the same accounts work fine. We have a...

    AntiSpam Filter

Another GFI fan here although it took a lot longer than a week for the Bayesian filter to learn. We have about 30 email clients here and about 60-70% spam. Users see hardly any of it now. I monitor the Bayesian detected spam but there are very, very few false positives.

    Email resent repeatedly!!!

Thanks for the reply. Turns out this was happening when synchronising offline and online emails. His mailbox size has exceeded 2Gb, he reduced it substantially but now there is some mismatch/corruption and this email is resent every time there is an attempt at synchronisation. The sync fails...

    Email resent repeatedly!!!

There is an internal email message sent to three recipients that is being automatically resent every 30 minutes. The sender is receiving "Read" notifications when the email is read. There don't seem to be any viruses etc. on his PC. Other emails he has sent before and after are not being...

Unable to install programs from DVD-ROM

Each time I try to install a program from a DVD-ROM i get the message "Not a valid win32 application" or "Access to the specified device, path or file is denied". The discs work fine on another PC (with XP home). The programs state they are compatible with Win 2000 SP4 which I have. Programs...

All shortcuts have lost their targets...

Still no good, I will have to reload Windows I suppose... No adware etc.

All shortcuts have lost their targets...

No it does not - it does not even have a "Shortcut" tab anymore. It is as if it does not recognise a shortcut element and is treating it as a file type it does not recognise.

All shortcuts have lost their targets...

All shortcuts on desktop and anywhere else no longer start the program they are linked to. The "Open with..." dialog box is displayed. The icons have reverted to the standard plain icon that Windows shows when a shortcut target does not exist(Windows symbol on blank paper with top corner...
