    Brick Level Permissions and Why

Greetings all. According to the documentation for client agent for Exchange, the domain account used to configure Brick Level backups requires it to be in the Administrators, Domain Admins and Backup Operators groups. Our security folks see this as an excess amount of security offered up to...

    Exporting of Media records

Hello All, Does anyone know of an easy way to export the Media Records list from the Database Manager (BAB 9.0) into a format that can be opened in Excel, such as CSV or tab delimited. This would be nice for tracking and reporting for me, but I can't for the life of me locate any way to do...

    Utilites to view unread messages

Well, since we use brick level backups of our mailboxes, each mailbox shows activity via that method, as it shows the backup service account (which is used to back up each individual mailbox) as being logged in last. So, no matter how inactive a mailbox is by the user, it will still show being...

    Utilites to view unread messages

Unless I am mistaken, it is only a violation of the privacy law if it is not disclosed to the end user that the e-mail system is owned by the company. and that their mail is subject to inspection at any time. This is disclosed to the user at the time of their employment. But thanks for thinking...

    Utilites to view unread messages

Hello All, Does anyone know of any good utilties to view all the Exchange 5.5 mailboxes and see how many unread messages are sitting in each users Inbox. We would see that as a flag for a non active mailbox and can assist with cleaning up of old, non used accounts. Thanks. Dave

NT authentication fails when outlook clients attempt to connect to exc

You might check to see if any local policy changes have happened. The Authenticated Users group will need to be able to Access This Computer From the Network attribute set for the Exchange server. If this group is not set to let the users authenticate, you not only will get the login box, but...

Problem with existing OWA and new Exchange server

Okay, disregard my original post. It would appear that we had a brain fade and forgot to open the firewall port for OWA to communicate with the new server. Sometimes the brain just doesn't work. So thanks and never mind. DLS

Greetings Knowledgeable Ones, We currently have a fuctioning OWA setup (in a public access DMZ) to our existing Exchange 5.5 site. The Exchange servers are on NT 4.0 Enterprise edition. We have added a new Exchange 5.5 server to the site on a Win2K member server. Now, anyone moved to the new...

Restoring a mail box from tape backup

Arcserve can indeed restore mail back to a mailbox, provided you are doing Brick Level backups in Arcserve. Simply select the mailbox and whichever folder you want to restore and restore back to the original location. You will need to supply your Exchange agent service account credentials. FYI...

    Exchange 5.5 Unread Message Reporting

Yeah, we are doing brick level backups of the mailboxes, which logs into each mailbox every night. That messes up the last logon attribute. I'll see what 3rd party tools are available. Thanks.

    Exchange 5.5 Unread Message Reporting

I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to... Is there a way to get a report or a directory export of the recipients container with an attribute set for number of unread messages in the Inbox or Mailbox? I can't seem to find a header attribute for this. We are doing some account...

Does anyone know an easy way to do

Does anyone know an easy way to do an Export of the directory that contains the attributes for Total K and Total Number of Items for mailboxes. We need to do an analysis and it would be very useful to have these two attributes available to report on which mailboxes might be jsut sitting there...
