AHA-1542CF and AUA-3020 USB conflict needs solution

Thanks for the quick response Felixc. I don't really need firewire per se, but the AUA-3020 was a spare card lying around, so I thought it should be put to some good use. I am looking at my bios now...I switched the "Resources Controled by" from AUTO to MANUAL. Here is a brief of those...

    ColdFusion Obfuscation

Hi everyone- I was wondering if anyone has had experience in software or scripts that will obfuscate CF code? I am aware that there are a number of ways to "sort of" scramble the code (i.e. cfencode.exe). Its not a question of preventing hackers from accessing the code (if they go that far...

Cannot boot from motherboard IDE with PCI RAID card?

a RAID controller is simply hardware that can be used to configure how your hard drives operate. Essentially, if you have pairs of hard drives that are similar make and size, you can set them up to have a pair act as one larger hard drive, or have a pair work as redundant drives, so that if one...

Hello - Here are the system specs: ASUS P4S800, 1 Gig RAM 2x80 gig HDs (Prim. and Sec. Master), 2 x 200 gig HDs (Prim. and Sec. Slave) Win XP Pro SP2. When in XP, the system seems to be running fine. However - Everytime I reboot, I get a message indicating that the Primary Slave Drive (the...

Cannot boot from motherboard IDE with PCI RAID card?

Hi - I posted earlier in this discussion board, and this is somewhat a continuation fo this thread (see http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=986361&page=2 "Motherboard appears to recieve power, but not much else") Since that posting, I have been able to get into Win XP Pro and do a data...

Motherboard appears to recieve power, but not much else

Cheap power supplies have only a few molex (white, flat, 4 pin connectors), perhaps 4, while a better power supply has 6,7 or 8 molex. also look for extra sheathing on the main power cable coming from the power supply to the molex connectors, 2 fans instead of one, fan covers that come off...

Motherboard appears to recieve power, but not much else

Hi - Just to follow up a week later. My motherboard has been replaced, and after 6 hours of reassembling the inside of the tower (organizing and tying wires, tightening all bolts, placing the CPU/heatsink/fan etc. back on) the system is back online...and the power switch is firmly screwed into...

Motherboard appears to recieve power, but not much else

I did not try the backup PSU because it is an ATA one. I am pretty sure my vid card works (I tested it on two other machines) so it looks like the AGP slot may be foo'd. Upon inspection of the mobo, however, I have found no burn or scorch marks on the mobo or particularly near the AGP slot. I...

Motherboard appears to recieve power, but not much else

Hi again- The video card I am using is an ATI 9200 SE 128 Meg AGP 8x card. The specs are at http://www.atitech.com/products/radeon9200/radeon9200/specs.html I did run this AGP card on this same system prior to the incident, and it worked fine - it plugged in without a hitch. I just tested...

Motherboard appears to recieve power, but not much else

Hi Paparazi - Thanks for your assistance. Here is a (somewhat pleasant) update. I had as you suggested, set up a mimimum system. -1 CPU/heatsink/fan -1 stick of RAM -AGP vid card -power supply. Result: Power to mobo is on. Holding button for 5 seconds DOES NOT turn it off however. I had to...

Motherboard appears to recieve power, but not much else

Update - Since my previous post, I just confirmed the following: -The PSU appears to work (paper clip test) -Power appears to be coursing through the MOBO. I believe power is coursing through the MOBO because 1) the Standby Power LED on the mobo is on and green 2) plugging in the CPU Heatsink...
