There seems to be many problems with 11d. I have rollbacked to 10.1d for the time being. I would advise looking at the moderated Symantec forums as there are a lot of people in the same boat as yourself.

Ah but 11d GRT does not work with tape backups, you have to B2F (backup to folder) so you need to make sure you have enough room when you enable this.

Much to my amazement. This issue has resolved itself over night (fingers crossed). There is no second backup running and there is no second backup in the job queue waiting to run. Hooray!! P.S. Thanks for all your comments :P
