Hi arutl, How many links are we talking about? The best way to tell whether your cabling is going to support gigabit would be to have a contractor come in and certify it to CAT5e. Your could even hire a certifier yourself if you familiarise yourself with the tests. -

Thanks for all the excellent replies. Just to close this post; I went back yesterday to correct the issue, after several re-terminations I managed to get all of the links certified, not with a great amount of headroom but at least they passed. This must be to do with the quality of the cable... -
