    cd-rw drive under the radar...

    'replaced my (master) cd-rom drive, but lost my cd-rw writer in the process... how can i pull it back into 'my computer'...? (tried reinstalling the cd-rw software, but, needless to say, it was a no-go...) thank you...

    paulwood | edfair... Thank you for elaborating. I understand much better what's going on. The driver install disk I was using, btw, is for a Toshiba CD-Rom, factory-installed in a Dell... ('Just putting everything back after reformatting!) Regards, Diamonds

    OK, since ANY folder in c: is considered a dos subdirectory, I planted a clone of the file in my Windows folder, rebooted and checked again. The same messages popped up.(?!?!?) However.... The cd-rom drive seems to be spinning along just fine, so I won't worry about "fixing" it...
