I don't do Mac, but when I'm force to on Novell, I do this. Also, if you want them to have to logon on startup, I think you can put an alias to the printer or a volume in the startup...
I had this before and believe it or not, it was the 'N' icon in the system tray. Try getting the system up however you do. Goto the network control panel. open client 32 properties. There's a setting about showing the 'N' icon in the system tray. Turn this off and let me know what you get...

Elaborate on "Crash". Does it lock, bluescreen, etc. If bluescreen or error, what's the message. The first few lines of a bluescreen are always helpful. What version of Crystal Reports also. I've successfully done this numerous times and had a few problems myself.
