CD ROM Drive Not Accessible/System Hangs
Thanks for the info. I installed Windows 98 using the Compaq Quick Restore CD's. How do I check the BIOS and what should I look for? Also, I downloaded and installed Media Player 9. Could this cause a conflict that makes the CD drive inaccessible? I can't remember the timing of downloading...- dhl0913

I just reinstalled Win 98SE and installed all updates and service packs. Windows will only boot if I have the "force compatibility mode disk access" box checked. In this case, the CD ROM and CD-RW drives are not accessible (not even shown in "My Computer" or Windows...- dhl0913
