How to Block Files on Domino R5.

If you have a firewall you should be able to block the attachments at the firewall. Anti-virus suites for Domino (ie. Nortan, Trend Micro, Sophos, etc.) also have the capability to block attachments.

    Cache.dsk

This is taken from the Lotus Developer Domain website: "This special file contains design elements of server-based databases and cross replica journaling information." It is similar to the cache file that a web browser uses to increase performance. Dan

    Any preference? GroupWise or Domino

I do not have experience with GroupWise but there is an IBM Redbook that may provide some insight. Here is the link: http://publib-b.boulder.ibm.com/Redbooks.nsf/RedbookAbstracts/sg245650.html?Open

Deleted all administrator groups and now doomed!

One way to resolve this issue is to shut down the Domino server and open the address book locally. This will provide you with a backdoor to add those groups back into the address book.

    Stop single client logon

The easiest way would be to go into Start >> Settings >> Control Panel, double-click on Services. Double click the Lotus Notes Single Logon and change startup type to disabled. This will prevent the synchronisation from starting and you won't have to uninstall Lotus Notes.

What Files are needed to save the Lotus Notes Desktop

If the client is R5: bookmarks.nsf, desktop5.dsk, names.nsf, and if you do not need/want to go through the setup routine again, notes.ini. You move these and the client opens right up.

How to change the Lotus Notes display font?

Another way would be to add the following line to the notes.ini file: Display_Font_Adjustment=0-25 the number between 0-25 changes the font size. The user will need to experiment with the settings to come up with the one that works. Dan

"Unable to find path to server" after initial client setup.

I have experienced this error message when I set up brand new R5 mail clients on pc's that have not had Notes installed on them before. It occurs when the user tries to open the mailfile or some other database that resides on the server. What I have noticed is that in order for you to connect...
