A little more searching and I found this code:
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex16/disableenter.htm
It causes the enter key to act like the Tab key, when you hit the enter key it advances to the next text box. It worked great for me. Hope it works for you.
Hello:
This computer is a Dell Dimension 4200 running XP Pro SP2, Symantec Antivirus Client. This is located in a small office, I am an IT consultant for them. There are security concerns at this location and I am only given access to computers at certain times of day for limited periods of...
Update #2:
For some reason, when the Welcome screen fades to the black desktop it reminded me of the secure desktop screen for UAC, hmmmm.....
Just for the heck of it I disabled UAC from Safe Mode, rebooted, and viola, Vista booted right up to my desktop. Can't wait to see what happens when I...
Update:
I have found a partial solution. I went to HP’s website and found that Recovery Console Command Prompt commands are available in Vista.
I booted from the Vista dvd, system repair, command prompt, and ran the following:
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /fixmbr
and the system booted up to a...
Hello:
This is a Compaq Presario SR5130NX, AMD Athlon 64, 1024 M RAM. Running Vista Home Premium. Was working fine a week ago. My niece took it to college and said it started “acting up”, then it wouldn’t start up at all.
When I took a look at it I found that it boots to a blank screen with a...
Forgot to mention that I have been running Speedfan. It works ok at startup or after reboot for a while, then at some point it loses connection with the sensors, and all temps read 0 degrees. One more reason I'm leaning toward a bad motherboard. Also, as posted above, I have tried a new power...
Update:
Further monitoring in BIOS indicated an error. Temps of cpu and system immediately shot to 112 degrees C and all voltages showed weird numbers.
Other info:
I have replaced HDD with a new one. Have also ran memtest - no errors shown. Have also tried a new PSU and new memory. Problem...
Thanks to all who have replied. System appears to run ok in BIOS hardware management, but locks up in Safe Mode. At this point I'm leaning toward a bad motherboard, had some issues with the cpu fan connector awhile back. The only other thing I haven't tried was Ben's suggestion. I'll try a new...
Hello. Not sure if this is a hardware or software problem but here goes. This is an eMachines D4362, P4 3.0 GHz, 1 Ghz RAM, Windows XP Home SP2. A week or so ago I noticed that after the computer runs for an hour or so it starts locking up, and the hard drive light stays on continuously. Also...
This is a new HP Officejet 5610. I purchased it from Staples a couple weeks ago and set it up and got it printing no problem. I didn't use it for a week or so, and yesterday tried to print something, and it just prints out a blank page. The computer recognizes the printer, and sends a print job...
Thanks to all who responded. I believe that Linney is correct in that when the onboard video plug got damaged, some additional damage to the motherboard was probably inflicted. Although there is no option in the BIOS to disable the onboard video, there is an option to set it to "pci", which I...
