Thanks for the replies Trevatwork and linney. I found out that it was Norton Antivirus that was accessing the floppy during shut down. Problem solved! Thanks for that link linney!!
My harddrive recently crashed, and I installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Home. I updated to SP2. However I noticed that whenever Windows shuts down, the floppy drive goes crazy. I have no idea what it's trying to find. Could someone please shed some light on this issue?
Thanks!
Installed Smart Protector trial version, and that fixed it. It seems to have deleted all of my temporary internet files and index.dats. That allowed IE to make a new, clean index.dat. Thanks for the replies!

I believe it started the beep after I installed a Logitech Quickcam. If I stop all Logitech related tasks in the Task Manager, then the beep goes away when I turn off the computer. There are no conflicts within my device manager.
Lately, when I do shutdown on my Windows XP Home machine, the computer makes a beeping noise. It does it when the screen turns to baby blue and says Windows is saving your settings. The computer turns off fine, and boots up fine too. I'm just trying to find out what's causing this beep...
