Pauldr, I'm experiencing the same problem on the W2K machines at work and like you've also said, I don't know if removing the kb will resolve the issue. Can anyone also let me know of any fix for this particular symptom?

Vanos, I tried your suggestion but hit a brick wall straight away. The option to promote the BDC is greyed out. I believe I need to give the rights for this to happen from the PDC however I'm not familiar with the in NT 3.51 which is what the PDC runs. Any pointers please? [afro]
