Arcserve 11.1 SP2 (Build 3200)
I am using the tapecopy command to archive disk based backups to tape for long term retention, so far so good.
However, recently this process has started to span over to 3 tapes and I have noticed that the 3rd tape is being created as sequence 2. This obviously...
Ok, I think I have managed to get to the bottom of this one.
It would appear that it all depends on how you select the objects to be backed up. If you simply select the entire server (solid green block next to server name) it doesn't separately back up the registry. However, if you select each...
Firstly the basics: BrightStor AS 11.1 3200 running on Windows 2K03 server backing up Windows 2K03 server running agent 11.1 3200.
Now to the detail. As the title suggests I have been having problems backing up and restoring the registry. All I simply want to do is to restore parts of the...
I'm not sure if this is the correct way of going about this but I have managed to solve the problem.
Inorder for me to get it to work I gave the local administrator on each of the servers caroot equivalence. Then logged into the target server as local administrator and ran tapecopy from there...
It would appear that the user 'asbackup' already has caroot equivalence, if I'm interpretting the the information below correctly.
D:\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup>ca_auth -equiv getequiv
Equivalent BrightStor user for asbackup@ridge : caroot
As I said earlier this is a domain user and not a...
Hi folks, I hope you can help me. Firsly the background:
I'm trying to move a number of backups from disk to tape.
The tape drive is connected to a different serve to the ne where the disk backup resides.
Both machines are in the same subnet and same domain.
Both machines are running BAS11.1...
Ok...call the search off!!!
Finally got to the bottom of it, and as I suspected it was something very obvious and something I should have spotted much much earlier. Our 2003 server didn't have W2k3 SP1 installed. It does now and it works.
Thanks for your help.
Ian
After an hour or so of further testing I'm now really baffled. Either something very strange is happening or it is something so blindingly obvious I can't even see it. Here goes (it might be a little long):
This is the batch file I am trying to execute post job (shutserversbyday.bat):
@echo...
Thanks for getting back to me Vschumpy.
It did occur to me that it might be OS related so I have investigated along those lines. I can confirm that the script executes as it should if I run it from a CMD window.

I recently upgraded one of my backup servers from Windows 2000 to 2003. The BAB installation is version 11.1 (Build 3100) as it was before and as it is on our other BAB server (still running W2k)
The problem we are experiencing is this. Prior to the OS upgrade a number of the backup jobs ran...
As of yet I don't have a solution, but at least I now think I know what the problem is. Microsoft suggest that running 3rd party software to add disclaimers to email messages can cause problems with checksum errors in the streaming file, and as we do this I suspect this could be the cause. I...
Ok, debug is working now - needed the agent's services stopping and restarting. Below is an abridged copy of the the trace.
I have omitted the header type info - it all seems ok, no errors. I have also omitted the section refering to the edb file as this completed without error.
$ Open...
Thanks for that
I have done that and re-run the backup but it doesn't seem to have created a trc file. Where would you expect it to place the file(s) ?
Regards
Ian
