I am trying to cleanup and make sure the systems health and filesystems are maintained properly. I noticed that the tape drive device listed below file size is rather large but I don't know if this is normal. Is there anyway that I can find out? The permissions also shows rw-r--r--; is that...
My root filesystem space has gone from 62% to 91% and the only culprits look like these files in the /dev directory. Can anyone tell me if the size of these are normal or not? And if not can I "touch" them or zero them out? How can it be done if so?
-rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 58167808...
Thanks; here's what happened:
# who -x /etc/wtmpx
who: Warning --- File '/etc/wtmpx' may be corrupted
Wow - so this file is corrupted! Yikes...:(
After researching further, I found that I will need to perform the following steps. I hope this helps. I will let you all know! Thanks again...
Oh - 1 more thing, this is the file that is growing:
# ls -l /var/opt/K/SCO/Unix/5.0.5Eb/etc/wtmpx
-rw-rw-r-- 1 adm adm 78372592 Jan 5 14:44 /var/opt/K/SCO/Unix/5.0.5
Eb/etc/wtmpx
What is this about and why is it growing? HELP!!!
Thanks so much. Yes the root filesystem is growing. Since making this post on Friday /root was at 92% and now it's at 97% full. I will find time to take it down to single user mode and cleanup root. Do you know why this happens??? And do you have any information on the file called...
I am finding that my log files are filling up and I don't know why. Today the root filesystem filled and I ran /etc/cleanup but within minutes my users started getting "No utmp entry, must login from lowest level shell". I rebooted the server and the users were able to login. However...
Hi Ed,
Thanks for helping. When I enable the printer it just goes back online ready like:
printer fct_marcia enabled since Mon Jan 27 22:03:51 2003. available.
When we try submitting another print job it fails with the Unable to open a socket message.
I will post this over on the SCO side...
Hi All,
I have a printer that was setup with "facetwin" and I don't know anything about it. Anyway, this HP LaserJet Printer is connected to a PC-windows 98 and the user can printer to it using any programs on the desktop. However, when trying to print to it from Unix command line...
Hello,
Well I hate to tell you this but I did try that last option Alrip gave. I tried that when I first did this and on the SCO window from my desktop, it gives and error and does not recognize me.
I have not had a chance to verify Wonboodoo's method, but I will and report back soon...
Thanks for the insight. I have since found a copy of BackupEDGE sitting in the computer room that was never implemented. I have read over the documentation and plan on installing it once I get the approval to do so, which I don't think is a problem. I have not had any problem running the...
I am testing our backups that I am currently running in cron "cbackup" on our SCO Unix box. I am having problems trying to retore 1 file to another location using cpio. I can list the files on the backup but not having any luck restoring a particular file and putting it in a /tmp...
Thanks - I did try it however when I launched scoadmin from my desktop, it never opened however the process showed that it was running. Should I launch it from the actual server window? I didn't have time to play around with various ways to do this but it seems you are very close to what I am...
Can anyone tell me how you can setup your desktop (PC or Laptop) to emulate the scoadmin or xterminal using Reflextion X or any other software? Do you also have to setup something in SCO to allow for this as well?
Thanks...
