    CCNA or MCSE

Thx for the reply. The more I think about it, the more I'm swaying to the CCNA route anyway. Plus, the previous tutor I had for earlier IT quals is running the CCNA so that's another bonus. ;o) Cheers.

    CCNA or MCSE

Hi all, I'm a regular in the PC h'ware threads but have never entered into discussions in the certification threads, erm... until now. :) Ok, in a few months time I will have the opportunity of taking either the full CCNA or MCSE courses and just wondered which one will give me the best career...

Acronis True Image is the cloning daddy for me. :)

    Upgraded PC not posting?

Def sounds like the CPU to me. I was going to post a new topic regarding the exact same problem but you've described it for me so may aswell enter it here. :) Just in process of repairing a mates machine which had a blown PSU and wrecked mobo. After replacing both, the fans are spinning on...

Asrock K7VT4A+ freezing and losing HD in post?

Maybe when I say 'parking' it was a bad choice of words. It still beats me how the drive ALWAYS went thru the boot procedure without a fault yet after 5 mins of use just freezes and hangs the system. I haven't yet tried it as a slave or tried to recover it but no doubt I'll have a go when I...

Asrock K7VT4A+ freezing and losing HD in post?

Hi guys, Just to wrap this thread up. It was a HDD fault as the drive was 'parking' after boot up and needed a complete shutdown / reboot to re-recognise on POST screen. Cheers for the input. Darren

Asrock K7VT4A+ freezing and losing HD in post?

Thanks for the comeback. I've now fitted my spare 'trusted' HD and it is taking a full XP Pro installation no problem. I'll keep it busy for a few hours and see how it goes. I couldn't even get 5 mins use with the old drive before lock up.

Asrock K7VT4A+ freezing and losing HD in post?

@Garebo: It isn't a jumper problem as the PC has been running perfectly since I built it last December. Still in process of testing with another HD, if I can find my damn spare unit. :o/ Cheers.

Asrock K7VT4A+ freezing and losing HD in post?

CPU / heatsink is and always has been fitted correctly becuase I originally built the system. :) The ram chip is a quality branded chip which is fairly new so in this case I'd very much doubt it will be a memory issue. I've been running a few other tests on the PC tonight to eliminate power...

Asrock K7VT4A+ freezing and losing HD in post?

Just to add to the point. I'm going to try a replacement hard drive first just in case its a recurring HD fault?

Asrock K7VT4A+ freezing and losing HD in post?

Hi all, I'm currently in the process of repairing a friends PC and just wanted to share the problem with anyone in here to see if it sounds familiar to anyone. The mobo is an ASROCK K7VT4A+ and it has suddenly started freezing during normal operation and restarting. When the PC restarts, the...

Thanks guys, I've now built the machine and used both power connections, everything runs fine! Cheers for the input. :o)

    PC Freezing - Power Supply?

@Dragonturtle: Just to back up what the other guys have said here, your PSU is well under par for the system you are running. I am running a similar spec PC to yourself and I've recently blown a 400w supply although I have a LOT of PCI activity aswell as a SATA HD. Always go for true...

PC Chips 863G and 4 pin 12v connection

I was thinking of using both power points on first boot anyway just to be on safe side. As you suggest, it's there for a reason so don't leave it unconnected. Just thought it was strange as I've used a few PC Chips mobos in the past and none actually had the 4 pin connect?

PC Chips 863G and 4 pin 12v connection

Hi, I've just purchased a PC Chips 863G (v1.5a) mobo and I have noticed the board has an additional 4 pin 12v connector aswell as the usual 20 pin ATX. I just want to know if the 4 pin power needs power to it or am i ok just to run off the standard ATX connection. Thought it was strange that...
