Do client PC's need to be on a Active Directory domain to function w/ SMS 2003? I have PCs that are not part of a domain but are on the network.
thanks!
Thanks for those responses.
I think I know why Oracle wants and gets so much of our RAM. In /etc/security/limits file, upon Oracle's recommendation, we set oracle to have the "unlimited" parameter in that file. Here is the file:
time(seconds) unlimited
file(blocks) unlimited...
Thanks Rod for your response.
Well in svmon -P, you can see the data and process stacks under each (P)rocess and their corresponding memory usage, i.e "work" or "pers", and my output has no "pers" so I know that there is no Persistant Storage or file buffer cache going on.
Also, Yes you are...
Hello,
I'm posting this in the AIX area for those who may have an idea.
I'm a AIX admin and the Oracle DBA and I have been working on an issue where Oracle seems to want all the RAM it can have.
Is it the case that Oracle Processes will take up as much RAM as possible? It seems everytime that...
Hello,
Is it the case that Oracle Processes will take up as much RAM as possible? It seems everytime that Oracle Processes take up all the available RAM in our Production System. So everytime we add more RAM, it takes more up. Is this normal?
We are running AIX 5.3 ML04 w/ Oracle 10g Server...
I run AIX 5.3 with CIFS sharing enabled to connect to our Windows Shares. We also utilize SAMBA for our Windows users to access our Unix Server.
CIFS works great under 5.3.
Are you sure you're getting the latest PTF's on IBM's Website...
Rod is right...
Basically it comes down to seperating the oracle DB from the rootvg. You always want Oracle to be on its own VG so the OS isn't fighting for various resources between itself and the Application, which in this case is the 2-ton monster Oracle. We went ahead a bought a new SCSI...
I would try mounting your DB filesystems under Concurrent I/O or CIO. DB's should'nt use the OS's file buffer cache to read/write data, but instead see the disk drives as raw logical volumes. When you mount your filesystems w/ CIO, there is no need to tune since the DB application goes directly...
Hello,
I'm coming across this odd issue where every so often (really sporadic), my p5 510 running 1.9Ghz 1-way with 5GB of RAM on AIX 5.3 ML04 will run in a super slow state. It always happens on a weekday, always between 9:15AM - 10:00AM, and the only fix seems to be a reboot. I try to run...
p5wizard,
how did you know that 19 blocks were allocated to phyp, PFT and TCE? What is the ratio between real memory and memory used by hypervisor, etc?
I have a similar issue w/ a newly ordered p5 510. I had 2GB of memory installed but it only shows 1856 of real memory. Until this topic, I...
could you tell me what to enter line by line, I'm sorry but the "do a prt dnb on the DB" is kind of unfamiliar to me. I'm a newbie on this stuff. thanks PBXRookie.
I have a similar problem but after I type the DN #, I get the response "sch2119" and then it goes back to requesting a DN #. I also want to be able to change a name on a display, but I type and get this,
>ld 95
REQ CHG
TYPE NAME
CUST 0
DIG ENTERKEY
DN "Extension#"
SCH2119...
