Someone is telling me there is a device I can rent and when it arrives, I attach it to the system and then an expert can remotely program the phones to do what I want.
Is this so?
If so, where can I get it, who does this sort of thing? What is the device called?
This would certainly solve a lot...
We have tried various sources such as a boombox, an itouch but they all result in very low volume. With the input device (boombox etc) volume control at max, we get some hiss and static and it is still not really audible.
The wires check out OK.
What are they designed to use for a music input...
The change DN you are describing is for control set. There must be something in that fiels it can't be blank."
it appears as "Line001:221"
I can press Change.
When I press Change, the 221 disappears to look like:
"Line001: _ "
So, no - it is not ever blank - it gives me the option to change...
When you reach show line and put in a line number ex: 001, does it not then give the option to add or remove sets from ringing on that line?
Marv"
At "Line001:221"
I can press Change.
When I press Change, the 221 disappears to look like:
"Line001: _ "
indicating I need to enter a set...
You showed the menu for control sets. Scroll past control sets to ringing."
Here is a pdf of the entire Service Modes menu.
Also you can click on the link to see me physically move through the Nortel menu on this phone. I cannot see Ringing in there, perhaps I am missing some part of the menu...
You find what you need in Gen Admin > Service Modes > Night > Ringing"
Marv, I really appreciate your help but for this system that does not appear to work, or at least, I can't get it to work.
I posted above, the entire menu for Gen Admin/Svc Modes (see 24 Feb 12 18:27) and was unable to...
>I believe you can still program ring groups on that older model, >but I'm not sure. Maybe someone else will know. How many phones >are out there?
I have been through all the menus and do not see Groups or Ring Groups anywhere. There are 6 phones or handsets on this system.
>Maybe for now...
"You will need to go extension by extension and remove the ringing from every set."
I thought I would just try to get this one set to ring properly and do all the others later. Is that unworkable?
"assign all the extensions to a particular ring group. Set the lines to use that ring group at...
Under the Service Mode > setting scroll until you get to Ringing Sets."
I am in: 6. Service Modes and the only options are:
Control Sets > Show line:_ Line001:221 Line002:221
Name1:Night Setting:Auto
Name2:Evening Settings:Off
Name3:Lunch Settings:Off
whereupon it then scrolls to 7. Password...
I think the easier way to go about this is to ask what they want the phones to do. What extensions should ring during the day? What extensions should ring at night? After you tell us that, we will be able to tell you the easiest way to accomplish it."
Sure, they want all the sets to ring...
>>So to create your scenario you will have turn off the >>ringing phones in Day Mode by going into Configuration > >>Sets > Ringing and set each line on each phone No >>Ringing.
I was able to stop the ringing on the control phone in reception today using your instructions:
Config > 2.LineAccess...
Thank you so much for the instructions! I hope to get away from my job later today to go over & see if I can try it out.
Much appreciated; will report back.
Dave
Marv, thank you for your reply.
You ask about what phones are ringing during "Day" mode. When you refer to Day mode do you mean the times other than 'Night', 'Evening', and 'Lunch'? Those are the only three modes offered in the menu.
In any case, I failed to mention which phones are ringing...
Still not working right.
I will write down the settings changes I have made, see if you can spot the problem.
