Well I guess it's been quite a while since we bought anything new! I was aware of HT, but never paid it much attention - guess I have a little research to do. Thank you both.

I have installed an identical second processor kit in a 6-month old IBM eSeries x345 server and it seems to be woking splendidly.
However, I was surprised to see that the CPU Usage History graph in the Performance tab of Task manager has been split into four panes rather than the expected...
Background: I have enabled IIS 5.0 services on an existing Win2K Advanced server. I created and configured a website using the new website wizard giving it a name and separate ip address along the way. The server has 2 NICs and tcp/ip is the only transport protocol. IP Properties of NIC #1...

I'll second the motion by jtb to replace that server pronto. Not only is it now unsupported by Dell, certain replacement parts may be extremely hard to find - as I found out the hard way! It may well last another 5 years, but it could cough it's guts out in 5 minutes... Can you or your...
You don't need the reskit for this, just look under Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Shared Folders... Users and open files etc are in there. You can also get to the same place via MMC if you prefer using that.

Hmmm... I had a similar problem a while back when I was unable to join a W2K machine to an NT4 domain and got the same 'can't find..' messages (even though the PDC and BDCs were in sync).
Someone suggested I manually add the machine ID of the workstation to the domain first, and then try...
This doesn't directly address your question, but a simple password protected screensaver that kicks in after x minutes of inactivity might do in the short term (we use the Logon Screen Saver as our default).
Around here we have a company policy that says users are not supposed to leave their...
Check out www.firedaemon.com for a great utility that lets you run an app as a service. More info at the web page... Hope this helps solve your dilemma.

SP3 was installed rather painlessly (no errors/warnings) about three weeks ago. No special MS hotfixes have been applied.
Looking at archived event logs, these error messages pre-date SP3 and actually go back at least a couple of months, but they seem to be getting more frequent. Lately they...

I've been getting these Event ID 2510 messages for a couple of weeks (sample below), but haven't got a clue where they are coming from. Nothing unusual otherwise, but I hate getting all these red X's. M$ has a couple of articles about eventID 2510, but they reference other error codes.
